Dodge County High School

GCSA VISITS JAYBIRD SPRINGS RESORT


The Dodge County High School Chapter of the Georgia Career Student Association (GCSA) took a trip to the Jaybird Springs Resort on September 19, 2008 where they enjoyed skating, swimming, water sliding, putt-putt golf and basketball among other games at the historic Dodge County resort. The DCHS chapter always looks forward to this fun filled activity.

 

GCSA MEMBERS ENJOY SPEAKERS

Mavis McCranie and Susan Woodard of the Eastman Career Center spoke to Ms. Gina Cook’s GCSA/Career Success students on September 25, 2008. McCranie and Woodard spoke to the students about the importance of good attitude when looking for a job and emphasized job interview techniques. They also administered a career assessment that placed emphasis on their employability skills.

STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT HGTC

Robbie Hobbs of the Heart of Georgia Technical College (HGTC) in Dublin visited Ms. Gina Cook’s GCSA/Career Success students on October 7. Hobbs showed the students a short DVD presentation about HGTC and what the technical college has to offer high school students and graduates. She also spoke to the students about the programs at HGTC and answered the student questions.

GCSA OFFICERS INSTALLED

The Dodge County High School (DCHS) Chapter of the Georgia Career Student Association installed officers for the 2008-09 school year recently. The installation was held in the school media center and refreshments were served to members, parents and guests afterwards. Officers installed were: Erica Shepherd, treasurer; Chelse’ Stuckey, secretary; Jessica Dennis, vice-president; Jake Rainey, president; Greg Swars, reporter; Brittany Wilcox, parliamentarian and Dillon Douglas, historian
