Southeast GCSA Christmas Angels School Project:
Helping Make a Difference in the Lives of Others
By: Sydney Meadows

Southeast Whitfield High School GCSA has just finished a semester of hard work on their school project, Christmas Angels. The Christmas Angels is a charity based project that helps the less fortunate families of Southeast Whitfield High School to have a better Christmas. Our goal was to work throughout the first semester to raise money to be able to give needy Southeast students and their siblings items that they were in need of or wanted for Christmas. In addition each family received an Angel Food Box. This was an ongoing project that had several fundraising/helping events including: representation and fundraising at our community feeder school event Riverbend Reunion, the GCSA Teacher No-Talent Show, GCSA refreshments stand at the Powder Puff Game, gift wrapping by GCSA students, and collecting canned goods at the Christmas “Gift Yourself” Fine Arts event. Southeast GCSA exceeded their goal with this project by raising over $800.00 and helping more families than we originally thought possible. We plan to start earlier with this event next year to continue to meet the needs of our Southeast families.
Southeast High School BuddySoutheast High School Buddy Program
Being good role models is a huge part of being in the Project Success Program at Southeast High School. These students are acting as mentors to students in our feeder schools, Dawnville and Valley Point Elementary. We work together with Big Brothers Big Sisters to make the Southeast Buddy Program happen affecting approximately 150 students. This program allows our Project Success/GCSA students to visit a little buddy once a week for about an hour. Students who participate in the program must meet strict requirements with grades, discipline, and attendance. We are proud of our students for being mentors to these rising Raiders who can not wait to see their buddies each week.
