GCSA Members Formulate Success at the 2009 Officer Training Conference
On October 30 & 31 GCSA chapters arrived at the Westin North to begin “Formulating Success”.
The session was kicked off with the Banner Challenge Presentation Introductions. Twenty three chapters participated in the challenge by designing a banner depicting the GCSA mission. The banners were introduced by three members on stage and then judged later in the evening.

During the Opening General Session the GCSA crowd was brought greetings from the Department of Education by Scott Carey, CTAE Program Manager. Jamie Grant of Philips Arena spoke to the crowd about our upcoming Thrashers and Hawks Night. She also thrilled the crowd by giving away several autographed Hawk items to members. Ms. Ashley Dollar of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta was at the conference to participate in the “My Change is Changing Lives” Campaign and the members were encouraged by keynote speaker, Joseph Washington, to “Break the Spirit of Average”.

Following the Opening General Session students rotated between workshops designed to make them stronger leaders and officers for their local chapters. Conference attendees took back skills to their local communities, chapters and schools by attending four workshops: Breaking the Spirit of Average, Cybersafety, Georgia College 411, and Perfectly Polished.

To cap off the evening members danced the night away and competed in friendly games of Cornhole.

On Saturday morning members attended workshops centered on sharpening their officer skills. The sessions were followed by the Closing General Session where the Banner Challenge Event Winners were announced.
